“Being like everyone else is like being Nobody at all” ! I have spent the last 20 plus years in the most amazing industry. The title of being a Professional Hairstylist / Barber has been my great honor. I have owned and operated several salons, I achieved the opportunity to work with several Global Manufacturers as Technical Education Director, Global Cutting Master, Curriculum Designer for Collections on a Global arena, and provided my with culture and influence from Artists from around the world. “Good artists Create, but Great Artists Borrow”!Pablo Picasso was widely suggested as the originator of this quote. It has been reworded and reused over the years, but regardless it has resonated in my personal philosophy for my career. Imitate or Borrow it doesn’t matter much to me how you say, but more on how you implement the information. I believe that the fundamentals for my craft were established way before I was a licensed professional, but studying the methods, practicing the techniques, and then making them your own. The trick is to not keep the information to yourself. Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchel, etc. etc.knew that sharing the information through education would be the legacy they would establish. Allowing for others to achieve mastery in their craft, and having people believe in culture and excellence for our industry. I have been fortunate to join the team at BlackSheep. Alex created an environment fitting for Oddballs like me to thrive. I never started out in life wanting to be “normal”. I wanted to be different, I wanted to stand out positively and not feel like another face in the crowd. Blacksheep is a space in which Standing out is the goal. Precision and Perfection. We are visible due to the team supporting our individualism, sharing our information, and therefore having our guests feel like they are in the spotlight and unique because they want to been seen amongst the flock.
